Berlin was the seat of Prussian kings, capital of imperial Germany, centre of the Nazi regime and, after 1945, a divided Cold War city. The Wall stood from 1961 until November 1989; its fall opened the way to German reunification in 1990. Today Berlin is Germany's capital and one of Europe's most visited cities.
